Health Screenings

Biometric screenings are offered routinely at all nutrition counseling sessions. It is most important that we “know our numbers”. Our Wellness Counselors educate shoppers on the benefits of conducting a personal health assessment and being mindful of key biometric numbers –height, weight, BMI, blood pressure and blood sugar. Three classes of screenings are offered:

General Screenings

General Screenings are recommended for everyone.  General Screenings are only an assessment of current health status at the time of counseling. They are not meant to diagnosis disease or rule-out the presence of disease. They give an assessment of risk and offer preventive health measures.

  • Hypertension Screening
  • Blood Glucose / Diabetes Risk Assessment
  • Body Mass Index Assessment

At Risk Screenings

At Risk Screenings offer a more in-depth health assessment.  They are recommended for those who:  [1] are at the upper end of the normal ranges for healthy blood pressure and blood sugar; [2] have a familial history of chronic disease; [3] sometimes exhibit symptoms that are characteristic of chronic disease; [4] desires a more comprehensive preventive health assessment.

  • Lipid Panel: Total Cholesterol (LDL, HDL)                    Slide2
  • Triglycerides (Measures fat in the blood)
  • HbA1c (Measures blood sugar over 3 months)

                                            Finger Stick Test

Advanced Diagnostics

Advanced Diagnostics are recommended for those who have been diagnosed by a physician with a chronic disease.  Advanced Diagnostics are elective testings but must be ordered by a physician. If you are recommended by our Wellness Counselors for further medical evaluation or follow-up, your medical provider may order one of the following tests.

  • EKG
  • Heart & Vascular Risk Assessment (ultrasound testing for aneurysm, stroke risk, atrial-fibrillation)
